GYM ETIQUETTE - 8 WAYS TO ENJOY A GREAT WORKOUT

Gym experiences can be greatly improved when everyone follows proper etiquette.


Let's work together to create a positive and enjoyable environment for all workout enthusiasts. 


Dress appropriately: Make sure to dress appropriately. Choose comfortable sportswear and gym attire suitable for your workout. Use the right gear and footwear based on the intensity of your exercise.


Follow the gym rules: Every gym has rules for using equipment, locker rooms, showers, and dispensing used towels. Read and follow them thoroughly.


Look after yourself: Always carry your towel and water with you. No one wants to watch you sweat or pant for water. Do not leave used towels or water cups lying around.


Sharing Equipment: Remember you are sharing the equipment and amenities with others, so be considerate of the time you spend on the cardio machines, press machines, and weights. Be mindful of others before you turn on the music or the air conditioning. Don’t drop the dumbbells or throw the weights at the end of your workout. Leave the weights back where you picked them.


Sharing space: If you are working on the weights, grab them and move away. Don’t hog all the space in front of the mirror. Excuse yourself if you seem to be intruding on anyone else’s space. If you are working out with a personal trainer, don’t have loud conversations and hog the space as if you own it.


Clean and sanitise (if possible) the equipment after you use it, just like how you would want to use one.


Cell phone: Limit your cell phone usage for your own sanity and others. Working out should be a digital detox session. Ensure that you always use your earplugs for music and conversations.


Day one: Most important- If it’s your first day at the gym, get help or assistance from an instructor or read the instructions thoroughly mentioned on the machine. Be mindful of the machines and the weights. Also, assist someone who would need help.


Try to find an exercise buddy; it’s always a good idea.
